REGIONAL SAFETY COORDINATOR
POSITION TYPE: Full-Time, Salary
LOCATION: Portland, OR
WAGE SCALE: $80,000-$90,000

RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Travel to locations and jobsites in region as directed.
- Conduct and/or participate in weekly tailgate meetings.
- Participate in safety committee meetings.
- Perform, assist and coordinate accident investigations.
- Conduct jobsite safety inspections and documents accordingly.
- Conduct warehouse, office, fleet and equipment inspections.
- Conduct inspections of equipment such as ladders, scaffolds, fall protection equipment, etc. Ensure biannual inspections are completed and documented.
- Create project specific documents such as site safety plans, job hazard analysis and fall protection plan.
- Communicate with management all safety violations and/or hazards recognized.
- Implement company safety policies and programs.
- Conduct training for equipment certification such as CPR, first aid, forklift and scissor lift.
- Review online safety training reports to ensure courses are completed.
- Conduct driver qualification training as needed for DOT compliance.
- Assist in review of field employee submissions for Job Hazard Analysis, Pre-Task Plan Forms, and Fall Protection Plans. Work with management on applicable corrective actions.
- Review and interpret safety reports for assigned branches (includes driving behaviors). Recommend applicable corrective actions.
- Abides by all safety rules set forth by company and governmental regulatory agencies and ensures that hazardous conditions are reported and corrected.
- Regular attendance is required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Associate’s degree in related major or 3 years of safety experience preferably in construction.
- Must be willing to spend time in the field or have interest in learning the trades.
- Up to 75% travel to visit locations and job sites.
- Have computer knowledge, including the use of excel, word and other applicable programs.
- Requires excellent verbal and written communication skills plus the ability to interact and communicate with all levels of employees.
- Must be able to effectively present information to groups of employees.
- Knowledge of requirements for certification in forklift operation, rough terrain, mobile platform, confined space, fall protection, emergency response, and respirator fit testing.
- Thorough knowledge of Injury/Illness Prevention Programs, OSHA, and any other federal and state safety codes and law pertinent to the health and safety of the organization and its employees.
- Must be able to climb stairs, ladders, scaffolds, etc.
- Regular attendance is required.
- Valid OR Driver’s License.
