Job Description

We are seeking a Staff Accountant I with the possibility of development and career advancement.  Under the direction of the Senior Staff Accountant / Accounting Manager, this position completes Store Support accounting functions on an accurate and timely basis within the framework of the objectives and policies established by the Chief Financial Officer. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

•    Ability to review, analyze and comprehend accounting function performed.
•    Maintains positive consistent interactions representing the Store Support Center with an efficient, accurate and reliable work ethic.
•    Able to develop peer product relationships to achieve the goals of the position.
•    Processes incoming mail, review analyze and code plant expenses / freight charges for payment.
•    Performs A/P duties such as verifying all invoices for payment and ensuring expenditures are charged to appropriate accounts.
•    May review monthly reports, accruals, inventory adjustments and other audit reports as necessary to ensure the accuracy of information reported in the income statement and balance sheet summaries.
•    Reconciles payroll for proper accruals and verifying GL account balances match to payroll register.
•    May prepare and posts journal entries to the general ledger.
•    Works with accounts payable in reconciling any problems that remain unsolved in regard to operating location purchasing/receiving/invoicing issues.
•    May travel to branches as needed with supervision.

Job Requirements

•    Four year college degree in accounting, finance or other related field or equivalent experience preferred.
•    Minimum of one year of accounting experience. Some knowledge of inventory system control and computerized accounting systems desirable.
•    Must have the ability to work with detail, and good organizational skills.
•    Ability to use and operate a PC, adding machine, copier and any other office equipment required to perform duties.
•    Knowledge of a variety of software including but not limited to Excel, Word, and SAP.
•    Regular attendance is required.
