POSITION SUMMARY: The Technical Architect is responsible for hands-on technical architecture and implementation of complex systems across infrastructure and applications. This role designs and implements system components to ensure technology solutions meet requirements, with a focus on infrastructure setup, application integration, configuration optimization, and rapid technical issue resolution to protect operational continuity.

The Technical Architect partners with stakeholders, vendors, and peers to gather requirements; leads and mentors engineering resources; and ensures documentation and standards (SOPs, architecture artifacts) enable scalable, secure, maintainable services.

 

SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Works with minimal supervision and general autonomy; receives direction on priorities, standards, and strategic alignment.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: May include some or all the following. Other duties may be assigned.

 

  1. Design and implement system components in complex environments to ensure solutions meet technical and business requirements.
  2. Lead architectural design, development, and deployment of on-premises and cloud-based systems to business and technical requirements.
  3. Produce and maintain technical blueprints, high-level component relationships, and integration approaches to support stable delivery and operations.
  4. Oversee deployment and maintenance of hardware/network infrastructure and platform components to ensure reliable system performance.
  5. Optimize configurations and system performance; assess system health and provide recommendations for efficiency and resilience improvements.
  6. Lead creation/maintenance of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and technical documentation to support onboarding, compliance, and consistent operations.
  7. Design and manage application/system integration to enable seamless communication across systems and platforms.
  8. Support cross-platform integration patterns and ensure designs scale effectively as demand grows.
  9. Incorporate security measures into system designs and implementations to protect data and system integrity.
  10. Factor security, compliance, and risk management into architecture decisions and platform changes, coordinating with appropriate stakeholders.
  11. Lead development and maintenance of problem analysis and resolution techniques; examine and resolve complex issues quickly to minimize downtime.
  12. Provide escalation support for critical incidents and complex technical troubleshooting across assigned domains.
  13. Design, engineer, and lead Disaster Recovery planning and recovery activities; contribute to resilience through tested runbooks and validated recovery capabilities.
  14. Serve as a lead/mentor and act as a liaison between technical teams and other IT/business teams; facilitate stakeholder communication and expectation management.
  15. Collaborate with vendors and internal teams to evaluate technical solutions, support implementations, and maintain operational readiness.

 

QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • Education/Experience: Bachelor’s degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university and five (5) years of relevant work experience in an enterprise environment; or n ten (10) years related experience and/or training.
  • Language Ability: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or government regulations.  n  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  n  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, customers, co-workers and vendors
  • Math Ability: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. n  Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.    
  • Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. n  Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, verbal, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Computer Skills: Must be able to operate a personal computer and other various standard office machines and equipment necessary to complete duties. n  Must have considerable knowledge of system management including system configuration, troubleshooting, security, resource monitoring, and the development of specialized programs.
  • Supervisory Responsibilities: Experience in leading functional and/or project teams 
  • Certificates/Licenses: Microsoft and Cloud services certifications preferred
