We're looking for our next long term Quality Supervisor to lead our Lab Technicians.


Starting in our Quality department means you're ready to be there for your team and exhibit a steadfast commitment to safe work practices. This position serves our plant through supervision of our Quality team, being a source of expertise on our quality specifications and testing processes, raising awareness of issues with production and working to resolve them in a time-sensitive manner, and most importantly, works to create the best asphalt shingle on the market. This position may also back up our Production Supervisors at times and will therefore require cross-training as a part of a robust understanding of our manufacturing practices.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES, may include some or all of the following:

 

  • Oversees production quality and process controls.
  • Supervises and trains laboratory staff.
  • Maintains lab instruments and equipment.
  • Orders safety supplies, laboratory parts and laboratory equipment.
  • Analyzes and reviews process and lab data.
  • Identifies process issues that may be impacting product quality.
  • Determines whether products are meeting specifications and takes appropriate actions to reject or accept the material.
  • Determines whether raw materials are suitable for production usage.
  • Contacts vendors when quality issues arise with raw materials and qualifies new vendors.
  • Receives and responds to customer complaints.
  • Gives input for laboratory and process procedures and specifications.
  • Maintains work area and equipment according to company specifications for cleanliness and safety. 
  • Abides by all company and government rules and regulations.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:  To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. 

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in biology, chemistry or related science or equivalent combination of education and experience. 
  • One to three years of related experience.
  • Minimum of three years of Supervisory experience.
  • Good computer skills to include Microsoft Office Excel and Word.
  • Troubleshooting skills to detect lab equipment problems.
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to deal with employees and the public in a professional manner.
  • Regular attendance is required.
