This position serves our plant through testing design, being a source of expertise on our raw materials and product, representing PABCO by creating relationships in professional associations, and most importantly, works to create the best asphalt shingle on the market. 

 

Essential Duties And Responsibilitiesmay include some or all of the following

  • Conducts routine to complex tests on finished product and raw materials, completing the necessary paperwork.
  • Responsible for research, creation and implementation of innovative quality testing procedures.
  • Maintains expertise regarding product and raw materials, being a source of knowledge and training for Lab Technicians and plant personnel.
  • Determines quality improvement parameters by identifying statistical trends related to the manufacturing processes.
  • Able to effectively communicate with all departments of the plant to investigate and solve quality issues.
  • Responsible for research regarding quality derived through experiments and data analysis; able to effectively present findings to all levels of plant staff.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
  • Able to operate all Laboratory equipment necessary to perform key functions of the job.
  • Abides by all safety rules set forth by company and government regulatory agencies and ensure that hazardous conditions are reported and corrected
  • All other tasks and/or responsibilities as assigned.

 

 

Qualifications:  To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university; and
  • five (5) years related experience and/or training; or
  • equivalent combination of education and experience.

Communication Ability:

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
  • Ability to write complex reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information to top management. 

Math Ability:

  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Reasoning Ability:

  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Computer Skills:

  • Expert level proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
  • Must be able to operate a personal computer and other various standard office machines and equipment necessary to complete duties.
