We're hiring our next Electrical Controls Engineer! PABCO Roofing Products, a manufacturer of asphalt shingles, has an opportunity for a Controls Engineer in Tacoma, WA. The right candidate enjoys solving problems with our current team members, thinking outside the box, and getting dirty!
Essential Duties And Responsibilities: may include some or all of the following:

- Design, commission, troubleshoot, and support industrial controls & electrical infrastructures.
- Learn, create, and optimize company standards for electrical & controls systems installs, procedures, safety, programming, & training.
- Develop and maintain electrical documentation & drawings.
- Work closely with engineering & production to optimize controls.
- Oversee contractors during installation to ensure work is accomplished in a safe & timely manner.
- Manage vendors to ensure deliveries meet deadlines and meet required specifications.
- Effectively communicate the process concepts to internal and external clients.
- Assist with or lead problem solving activities & discussions with production, management, and maintenance staff.
- Research & identify new manufacturing technologies as they become available; Communicate new ideas to Management.
- Maintain reliable and safe manufacturing systems while improving, quality, safety, production, efficiencies, and costs.
- Improve process capability and production volume while maintaining and improving quality standards.
- Develop and implement innovative systems that optimize all phases of production process.
- Ensure projects are completed on time & financial budgets are followed.
Proficiencies:
Electrical:
- Control Panels.
- Distribution systems.
- Proficient in Electrical CAD.
- Able to design Safety interlocked systems to current standards.
- Able to calculate power and other electrical calculations for sizing of circuits, breakers, and wire.
PLC Systems and hardware:
- Relay logic, wiring I/O in control systems.
- Rockwell Ladder Logic programming, Logix5000 preferred.
- HMI programming.
- VFD commissioning and troubleshooting.
- Wireless communications & programming various types of sensors & instrumentation.
- Fundamental understanding of network routers, switches, IP addressing & subnetting.

Education/Experience:
|
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering; and
- 5 year's plus experience in a manufacturing environment; or
- equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Expert-level Electrical troubleshooting abilities.
|
Math Ability:
|
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
- Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
|
Computer Skills:
|
- Must be proficient or expert level at the following programs: Allen-Bradley, HMI programmable experience, Solidworks and CAD.
