Here at our Newark location, we make Gypsum Wallboard. Your job as a Cost Accountant is responsible for completing the accounting functions of the manufacturing facility with guidance from the Subsidiary Controller/Account Manager.

What’s the Job?

 

  • Prepares month-end financial reports such as the Plant Profit and Loss and Balance Sheet Statements.
  • Responsible for the overall management of accounting duties for the plant location as they relate to general accounting functions including monthly close, budgets, daily processing and other financial and auditing analysis.
  • Oversees payment for all materials and services purchased by the location which may include expensed items and services, inbound and outbound freight, inventoried materials, and utilities for the location taking all discounts when offered.
  • Assists with the preparation of annual budgets for the plant location.
  • Collecting and analyzing data about the locations operation costs and setting standard costs of manufactured goods.
  • Oversees the preparation of statistics for financial statements, including the analysis and reporting of results to provide forecasts and identify problem areas.
  • Responsible for proper accounting of business or capital projects, assets and depreciation.
  • Administers and documents administrative policies and procedures pertaining to the location.
  • Directs and organizes year-end inventory procedures for the location.
  • Abides by all safety rules set forth by company and government regulatory agencies and ensure that hazardous conditions are reported and corrected.
  • All other tasks and/or responsibilities as assigned.

 

 

You and Your Experience:

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration Finance or related major
  • Two (2) years of accounting experience in construction, contracting or building materials environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)

 

What Puts You Ahead:

 

  • Previous experience in continuous production environment
  • Experience with SAP
