PABCO® Gypsum, a division of PABCO® Building Products LLC, has provided quality gypsum board products and service for over 35 years.  PABCO® Gypsum supplies a complete line of gypsum products for commercial and residential construction.

PABCO building products has an opening for a Technical Product Manager in our Gypsum division. This position is responsible for staying up to date and keeping informed of all industry related codes, standards, statutes and regulations in order to support communication to code officials, architects, and contractors as necessary in the specification and utilization of PABCO® products.  This position assists in system certification through third-party laboratories in the development of thermal, mechanical and chemical engineering property data. Works under minimal supervision.


The Job:

  • May maintain and manage the division website and coordinate the design of product labels.
  • Provides technical assistance as needed by the QA or the Production departments.
  • Assists in literature development and revisions as necessary in the creation and updating of product standards, installation guides, warranty data, product certification and etc. 
  • Provides assistance with the 800 helpline on product system selection, application, construction, and finishing. 
  • Attends the various building code and technical committees concerning our products ensuring that our manufacturing processes are not negatively affected by proposed changes to standards.  Follow efforts and monitor actions by standing technical committees. 
  • Assists sales representatives to answer questions from architects, contractors, dealers, code officials and others who need clarification on how to properly utilize products to prevent company liability for misuse of product.   
  • Abides by all safety rules set forth by the company and governmental regulatory agencies and ensures that hazardous conditions are reported and corrected.
  • Assists in research projects and activities to improve the gypsum process and formulations.
  • All other tasks and/or responsibilities as assigned.


Successful Candidates Will Have:



  • Chemical (or other) Engineering course work required;
  • five (5) or more years of directly related experience and or/or training in the gypsum industry;
  • knowledge of Underwriters Laboratories labeling process, ASTM Standards, LEED, and ICC code regulations (IBC, IRC, IgCC), CA Building codes and Green Code as they relate to the industry strongly preferred; and
  • knowledge of all facets of the product manufacturing process also strongly preferred; or 
  • equivalent combination of education and experience.


Communication Ability:

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or government regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. 
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, customers, co-workers and vendors.
