Starting in our Maintenance department as our newest Boiler Operator means you're ready to be there for your team through regular attendance and a steadfast commitment to safe work practices. This position ensures the safe operation of our plant Boiler as well as supports our plant operations through the duties laid out below.

 

Here are the details:

 

  • Checks boiler(s) steam pressure, water level and feed meter
  • Takes boiler water samples, makes adjustments as needed.
  • Opens, cleans and closes boiler for inspection
  • Blows down boiler water column, changes charts on slate dryer and checks feed water pump on tank (D.A. tank).
  • Hooks up and pumps out tankers to proper storage tanks and cleans coupling on trailer.
  • Records weight, time and tank level of each load.
  • Checks asphalt heater output temperature.
  • Starts, runs and checks slate system as required.
  • Fills hopper with gravel as needed and checks volume of gravel dropping into crusher.
  • Checks and changes dryer dust bag.
  • Checks SWECO’s for proper operation.
  • Adjusts percentage of feed to dryer as needed and monitors dryer output temperature.
  • Operates back-up generator in the event of a power failure.
  • Checks and maintains all air compressors (checklists)
  • Abides by all safety rules set forth by company and government regulatory agencies and ensure that hazardous conditions are reported and corrected.
  • All other special projects or tasks as assigned.

 

Here are the details:

 

  • High school education or equivalent.
  • A Class III or IV Boiler Certificate.
  • Six months of outside forklift experience preferred.
  • Requires basic reading, writing and mathematical skills.
  • Flexibility to work all shifts.
  • Ability to operate various pieces of heavy machinery safely.
  • Ability to maintain a forklift certificate;
  • Requires electrical, mathematical, mechanical, and troubleshooting experience to be able to perform duties.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds or more.

 

Local Wages:    $34.52 per hour, this position is non-exempt
