POSITION SUMMARY: Under the supervision of the Packaging Superintendent, this position is responsible for overseeing all work in the yard services/packaging area to assure maximum efficiency and safe conditions. It also supervises all activities in yard services, customer service and yard maintenance and is responsible for supporting and demonstrating the Core Values of Integrity, Safety, Respect, Customer Focus, Quality, Innovation and Financial Success. Performs other related duties as assigned.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
• Motivates, trains, plans, organizes and directs a team of brick unloaders, bander operators and forklift drivers
• Performs Time Data Audit Report of recorded time and errors daily of regular employees and temporary employees.
• Makes recommendations on the hiring, promotion, retention and discipline of packaging and yard services employees
• Examines samples of brick from kiln for defects
• Sets up color samples, checks quality and measures product
• Identifies good faces of product to assist packaging employees in their duties and instructs them how to stack product properly
• Directs product placement in the yard
• Prepares reports on packaging loss
• Monitors maintenance of work area by work crew and determines work schedules accordingly
• Makes product tags
• Checks packaging supplies in stock and orders new supplies as needed
• Counts product at end of shift and keeps track of recovery percentage
• Operates forklift, bander, bagging machine, strap heads and any other equipment required to perform duties
• Supervises the activities of workers responsible for sorting and blending brick
• Supervises maintenance of the yard services equipment
• Trains new operators on octagon and all saws
• Prepares yard services packaging reports and any other reports required
• Supervise workers performing yard and plant clean up
• Notifies Packaging Superintendent when problems occur
• Operates forklift, bander, bagging machine, strap heads, two-way radio, telephone and any other equipment required to perform duties
• Maintains work area according to the company specifications for cleanliness and safety
• Attends safety meetings and abides by all safety rules set forth by company and governmental regulatory agencies; ensures that hazardous conditions are reported and corrected
• Regular attendance is required

QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
• High School education or equivalent preferred plus the successful completion of two years of technical training in related areas.
• Requires on the job training and basic psychomotor dexterity to be able to perform duties
• Ability to use and operate a forklift and be certified
• Ability to use a hand bander and strapping machine
• Requires basic reading, writing, and mathematical skills and ability to communicate with understanding and the use of more complex terms of trade

• Requires mechanical skills and ability to train others
• Ability to apply common sense and the understanding to carry out detailed and involved instructions
• Ability to operate forklift, bander, bagging machine, strap heads, two-way radio, telephone and any other
equipment required to perform duties
• Must be able to able to communicate with peers and supervisors effectively
• Ability to follow simple instructions
• Regular attendance is required.

• Required to lift and /or move up to 40 pounds and must be able to talk, listen, walk, stand, lift, twist, bend,
