POSITION SUMMARY: Under the supervision of the Samples Supervisor, this position supports the samples department in all areas of preparing samples for distribution, including color selection, cutting, wrapping and boxing for shipment; This position is also the backup for the supervisor when needed and is responsible for supporting and demonstrating the Core Values of Integrity, Safety, Respect, Customer Focus, Quality, Innovation and Financial Success. Performs other related duties as assigned.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

  • Cut brick of all sizes on the mason saw in various ways to comply with supervisor’s request for sampling material
  • Cut 500 face cuts per day. All face cuts need to be clean with no brick dust on the face
  • Operate forklift
  • Make sample boards or other type of samples as requested by supervisor
  • Set up walls outside as needed
  • Set up face cuts for mini panels every morning
  • Glue mini panels
  • Pull brick from yard for sample making
  • Maintains the forklift check list for 2 forklifts every morning and take forklifts to the repair shop if repairs are needed
  • Prepares packages and sends samples to various customers as requested by supervisor
  • Answers emails, phone calls, take sample orders from customers and completes appropriate paper work
  • Assist manufacturing in special cutting projects when time permits as approved by supervisor
  • Maintains work area according to company specifications for cleanliness and safety
  • Attends safety meetings and abides by all safety rules set forth by company and governmental regulatory agencies and ensures that hazardous conditions are reported and corrected.
  • Predictable and Regular attendance is required, includes overtime and weekends as needed.

 

    QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • Must be able to operate a forklift and become company certified
  • Requires on the job training to be able to perform duties
  • Ability to read a tape measure or other measuring device established to aid in the development of a desired consistent dimension
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with peers, customers and supervisors
  • Basic reading, writing, math, and computer skills
  • Must have excellent color perception ability
  • Ability to follow simple instructions
  • Bilingual a plus (English/Spanish)
  • Predictable and Regular in-person attendance is required, includes overtime and weekends as needed.

  • Frequently required to use hands to finger, handle or feel; Reach with hands and arms; Talk and listen; Stand, walk, and sit.
  • Required to repetitively lift and/or move up to 60 pounds and must be able to walk, stand, lift. Twist, bend and to reach with hands and arms
