Under the guidance of the Sales Manager, the Sales Representative - Engineered Products sells/specifies the various engineered products that Basalite manufactures to various customers. Sales Representative - Engineered Products is responsible for supporting and demonstrating the Core Values of Integrity, Safety, Respect, Customer Focus, Quality, Innovation and Financial Success. Performs other related duties as assigned.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

  • Contacts customers in person and by telephone. Customers include architects, civil and structural engineers, geotechnical engineers, city, county, DOT building officials, dealers, contractors, etc.
  • Complete formal presentations to above listed customers.
  • Educates potential customers regarding company’s engineered products.
  • Teaches contractors how to build the various engineered products we manufacture, bid on the various types of products and market engineered products.
  • Provides job quotes, production time tables for orders and orders deliveries.
  • Delivers samples to customers and potential customers as requested.
  • Performs post-bid job follow-up.
  • Informs specifiers and dealers of new products, helps build contractor network and assists in marketing of products.
  • Participates in industry shows to promote engineered products and company.
  • Checks plans in Builder’s Exchange and reads trade information.
  • Attends in-house sales meeting and contractors’ meetings.
  • Performs required paperwork and maintains job order file.
  • Attends safety meetings and abides by all safety rules set forth by company and governmental regulatory agencies; ensures that hazardous conditions are reported and corrected.
  • Regular attendance is required.


QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • College education preferred with a background in construction management and business a plus.
  • Three to five years of sales experience and one-year experience in the construction industry required.
  • Professional speaking/presenting skills preferred. Must have the ability to verbally communicate highly technical information to the professional community.
  • Training and experience are interchangeable on a year for year basis.
  • Knowledge of construction, ability to read plans and working knowledge of masonry codes and standards preferred.
  • Requires good reading, writing and mathematical skills.
  • Ability to operate automobile, personal computer, printer, calculator, copier, facsimile machine and any other equipment required to perform duties.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to drive to construction sites and client offices required.

  • Lifting up to 50 pounds.
  • Up to 50% travel time required.
