POSITION SUMMARY: Under the supervision of the Assistant Plant Manager, this position supports the quality assurance functions in all areas of the lab ; and is responsible for supporting and demonstrating the Core Values of Integrity, Safety, Respect, Customer Focus, Quality, Innovation and Financial Success. - Conducts performance reviews for direct reports and advises on year-end performance reviews for all personnel via SuccessFactors (HRIS).
- Works with upper management on critical hiring and firing decisions.
- Works with HR for recruiting, selection, and onboarding of personnel.
- Monitors and approves employee actions in EC (HRIS) in a timely manner.
- Responsible for reviewing daily audit reports of recorded time and errors and track attendance and meal and rest breaks according to CA law.
- Oversees the coordination of testing and review of incoming raw materials and ensure that they are suitable for manufacturing, and all finished concrete products from each plant including block, paver, and sack to ensure they meet or exceed the stated quality requirements.
- Report any changes in raw materials to the Asst. Plant Manager and/or appropriate plant superintendent.
- Maintains accurate records of materials tested and prepares reports as required.
- Checks products for defects, eliminates sub-standard products and informs the Asst. Plant Manager and/or the plant superintendent of the quality issues of products.
- Assists in the training of QA and plant personnel as it pertains to quality assessment.
- Participates in hiring and disciplinary actions of employees.
- Participates in performance reviews annually on employees in direct reporting structure.
- Orders laboratory equipment and testing materials as needed.
- Evaluate secondary manufacturing operations (decorative rock, tumbling, shot blast, pallet repair, and tumbling) and assist in ordering parts, when needed.
- Assists with regular sack plant specialty raw material inventories.
- Maintains and organizes work area according to company standards for cleanliness. Oversees and reports on department 5S duties.
- Holds weekly safety huddles with QA personnel.
- All other duties and responsibilities assigned from time to time by the company or its designated representative.
- Abides by all safety rules set forth by the company and governmental regulatory agencies; and ensures that hazardous conditions are reported and corrected.
- Predictable and Regular attendance is required. Must be able to work overtime and weekends as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
- High school education or its equivalent.
- Requires on the job training to be able to perform duties.
- Ability to operate a forklift and become forklift certified.
- Must be able to learn and maintain a strong knowledge of the products the Company sells and manufactures.
- Requires good written and verbal communication skills and professional manner in dealing with employees, customers and vendors.
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Ability to accurately perform math skills such as addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.
- Excellent problem solving skills.
- Must have strong computer skills and be proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word. Must be able to learn and navigate in SAP. Ability to use and operate basic office equipment, weights and measurement equipment and other equipment specific to plant operations under this position’s direction.

SALARY RANGE: $29.00-$32.00 PER HOUR – DOE
