Salary Range: $65,000 - $80,000, DOE

FLSA Status: Exempt

POSITION SUMMARY:  Under the supervision of the VP, National Retail Sales, this position is responsible for representing Basalite, its products and services to Box Stores and independent dealers in the South Bay California Areas.  The focus of the position is on packaged concrete products, building materials and hardscapes such as (Sakrete Concrete Mix, CMU Block, Retaining Wall, Pavers, Decorative Rock and more).  Position works with ProSales Desk and other store managers to help create special orders and promote Basalite products to the Pro and DIY markets; and is responsible for supporting and demonstrating the Core Values of Integrity, Safety, Respect, Customer Focus, Quality, Innovation and Financial Success. Performs other related duties as assigned.

 

SUPERVISION RECEIVED:  General Supervision – Reports directly to Director of National Retail and works closely with Senior Sales Representatives.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

 

  • Main Activity is calling on and assisting customer base and develop new business opportunities by visiting Box Stores and Independent Dealer Locations, and addressing their special-order questions, stocking levels and customer feedback.
  • Building relationships with key store level, district, and regional managers with various Box Store Chains to grow business opportunities for the company
  • Educate customer base on product usage via product knowledge training and “How to Clinics”.
  • Organize literature, brochures, and other necessary marketing collateral at dealer locations.
  • Work with VP - National Retail and Marketing Department to ensure marketing materials current and effective for the target audience
  • Provide product samples and construct point of purchase displays at customer locations.
  • Attend and participate in Open Houses & Contractor Events at customer locations
  • Work with VP - National Retail to analyze sales and market trends by product line.
  • Develop and execute territory action plans to ensure successful results.
  • Resolve issues related to distribution and product quality and / or installation practices.
  • Work with customers and marketing staff to effectively launch new products.
  • Coordinate with manufacturing and vendors to determine timeline for product availability.
  • Provide technical training to customer’s sales team, counter and yard personnel.
  • Answer product questions from homeowners, dealers, contractors, and the general public

regarding products and installation.

  • Complete weekly call reports in SalesForce and use other applications effectively
  • Make customer care a priority.
  • Host and entertain customers at Company sponsored events. (Lunch, Bass Derby, Sporting

Events, trap shooting etc.…)

  • Work with National Retail Sales Coordinator, Inside Sales Staff and customer service to ensure necessary paperwork gets processed for dispatch, yard, or any other support staff and customers.
  • Report daily sales activities into company CRM System (SalesForce.com)
  • Fill out job complaint forms in their entirety.
  • Maintain professional appearance and demeanor at all times
  • Abide by all safety rules established by the company and governmental regulatory agencies

and ensure that hazardous conditions are reported and corrected.

QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

 

  • Associates Degree or equivalent experience preferred
  • Three year’s sales experience with experience in the Box Store Retail market.
  • Professional presentation skills to effectively deal with dealers and contractors.
  • Ability to work with a consultative approach and build consensus for ideas and solutions.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, reading, mathematical, interpersonal and leadership skills.
  • Ability to operate an automobile, personal computer, printer, smart phone, tablet, projector, copier, facsimile and any other equipment required to perform duties.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite – Word, Power point, Excel.
  • Must have a valid Driver’s License
  • Predictable, and Regular attendance is required.

  • Frequent travel is required in CA areas, often up-to several hours of driving per day (50-75%)
  • Occasional local overnight travel (5-10%)
