POSITION SUMMARY: Under the direct supervision of the Assistant Plant Manager, this position is responsible for necessary lab analysis completion; and is responsible for supporting and demonstrating the Core Values of Integrity, Safety, Respect, Customer Focus, Quality, Innovation, and Financial Success. Performs other related duties as assigned. Assists in EHS related duties as assigned.

 

SUPERVISION RECEIVED: General 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  Include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

 

  • Assists in the testing of concrete products from each branch in the division. Including block and dry sack production.
  • Assists in regularly testing of incoming raw materials to ensure they meet or exceed the stated quality requirements and are suitable for use in manufacturing.  Including sands, aggregates, pigments and cement.
  • Assists in routinely inspecting production departments and finished products.
  • Performs compression testing, absorption, density and moisture testing, weight and sieve tests for aggregates, and durability testing in accordance with customer specifications
  • Assists in weighing up of power packs for specialty product manufacturing
  • Assists in batching of power packs for manufacturing runs of specialty products
  • Collects samples for internal use and independent testing laboratories
  • Checks each production line periodically (daily) to assure product meets correct specifications for color and size. Notifies machine operator when product does not meet specifications.
  • Assists with color matching and mix designs
  • Assists with investigations of customer complaints
  • Abides by all safety rules set forth by the company and governmental regulatory agencies; and ensures that hazardous conditions are reported and corrected.
  • All other duties and responsibilities assigned from time to time by the company or its designated representatives.
  • Regular and Predictable attendance is required. Some overtime may be required on an intermittent basis.

 

QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

 

  • A high school education or equivalent with advanced courses in laboratory testing technique, preferred.
  • One year experience laboratory procedures in a production environment.
  • Knowledge of testing procedures for concrete products and aggregate, and safety requirements including employee training, documentation and reordering.
  • Communicate effectively with peers and management.
  • Ability to use and operate various types of testing equipment and machines, forklifts, mixers and personal computer.
  • Possess a certificate to operate forklifts.
  • Excellent written, oral communication, and mathematical skills.
  • Regular and Predictable attendance is required. Some overtime may be required on an intermittent basis.

  • Standing, walking, talking/listening, simple grasping with both hands, and reaching with hands and arms below shoulder level.
  • Occasionally required to bend at the waist.
  • Lifting up to 100 pounds.

Hourly  $20-$25
