Muddox joined Pacific Coast Building Products in 1980 and now supplies a large distributor network with clay products that include standard face brick, thin brick, flue liners, pavers, pool coping, and structural brick. H.C. Muddox also offers custom shapes, sizes and colors in a range of products.

 

(SUPERVISOR, VENEER)

 

WHAT THIS ROLE LOOKS LIKE: Under the supervision of the Plant Manager, this position supports the thin-brick departments in all areas of thin-brick production and is responsible for supporting and demonstrating the Core Values of Integrity, Safety, Respect, Customer Focus, Quality, Innovation and Financial Success. Performs other related duties as assigned.

 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

 

  • Oversees all plant personnel during their shift.
  • Oversees all employees in the following areas:  Saw Operators, Sorters, Laborers, Forklift Operators.
  • Responsible for producing to the schedule provided by the Plant Manager, Production Assistant or Plant Manager.
  • Responsible for training and/or cross training employees within the plant.
  • Participates in hiring and disciplinary actions of employees as needed.
  • Coach, train, instruct and offer guidance to all subordinates.
  • Hold team accountable to meeting production schedule and production objectives.
  • Perform annual reviews for direct reports in SuccessFactors (HRIS), engage in employee development and discipline as applicable.
  • Manage employees within state guidelines for breaks, lunches, etc. and apply best practice as it relates to labor, parts and maintenance spending. Monitors, directs and assists activities of the thin-brick grading, packaging and saw-cutting crews, specifically setup preparation, tables, necessary equipment to include EZ lifts, tape guns, boxes and box inserts. Monitors, directs and assists other duties as assigned to the department including tumbling and special brick/block processing as required by management.
  • Monitors and directs the chipping, break-away processing, grading and boxing of thin-brick and thin-brick corners of various sizes, colors and textures per quality control, supervisor and management instructions.
  • Monitors and assists workstations to ensure they meet company specifications for cleanliness and safety.
  • Maintains a clean, safe and orderly department.
  • Oversees quality control standards as directed by management.
  • Operates forklifts, various hand tools or other equipment required to perform and/or assist in departmental duties.
  • Notifies maintenance personnel and/or appropriate management officers of any equipment problems that may curtail production activities or present a safety problem.
  • Prepares reports on packaging as directed by plant production supervisor and/or plant manager.
  • Monitors the saw-cutting administrative requirements to ensure quantities are accurate.
  • Monitors the saw cutting operation for quality and accuracy.
  • Reports all hazards, near-misses and any other safety concerns to the plant manager.
  • Conducts and attends safety meetings and abides by all safety rules set forth by company and governmental regulatory agencies; ensures that hazardous conditions are reported and corrected.
  • Predictable Regular attendance is required.

necessary to perform the job consistently and safely.

  • Ability to understand and follow instructions as directed by the plant manager or other appropriate management personnel. Knows when to ask for guidance or assistance from supervisors or management.
  • Ability to read a tape measure or other measuring device established to aid in the development of a desired dimension.
  • Ability to use a label maker in order to make identification tags for the products processed in the department.
  • Predictable and Regular attendance is required.
