Maintenance Parts/Inventory Clerk

POSITION SUMMARY: Under the supervision of the Maintenance Supervisor, this position supports the maintenance department by managing parts, tools, and consumables required for the upkeep of equipment and manufacturing machinery used in paver and wet cast production. This role ensures accurate inventory control, timely availability of components, and efficient coordination with vendors to minimize downtime and maintain smooth plant operations; and is responsible for supporting and demonstrating the Core Values of Integrity, Safety, Respect, Customer Focus, Quality, Innovation and Financial Success. Performs other related duties as assigned.

 

SUPERVISION General

  • Maintain accurate inventory of parts, tools, and consumables for plant operations
  • Perform regular cycle counts and reconcile inventory discrepancies.
  • Receive, inspect, and verify incoming shipments for accuracy and quality.
  • Issue parts and supplies to maintenance mechanics and plant personnel for scheduled and emergency repairs.
  • Monitor stock levels and reorder critical components to prevent shortages and downtime.
  • Organize and maintain storage areas in compliance with existing standards.
  • Prepare and update inventory reports for management and maintenance planning.
  • Coordinate with vendors for order status, lead times, and expedited deliveries.
  • Assist in sourcing alternative parts for obsolete or hard-to-find components.
  • Support preventive maintenance by ensuring required parts are available ahead of scheduled work.
  • Respond quickly to breakdowns by locating and issuing parts to minimize production delays.
  • Utilize inventory management systems and maintain accurate data entry for all transactions.
  • Prepares and forwards or files documentation and paperwork associated with assigned duties, i.e., purchase orders, parts requests, work orders, receivers, and packing lists.
  • Rebuild small parts such as cylinders, wheels, accumulators, and vibrators.
  • All other duties and responsibilities assigned from time to time by the company or its designated representatives
  • Maintain work area and equipment to be clean and clutter free per company standards
  • Abides by all safety rules set forth by the company and governmental regulatory agencies; and ensures that hazardous conditions are reported and corrected.
  • Regular and Predictable attendance is required.

 

QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

 

  • High school diploma or equivalent (associate degree or technical certification preferred).
  • Experience in a manufacturing or heavy equipment environment is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with parts for hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems (bearings, belts, motors, hoses, etc.).
  • Understanding paver machinery and production equipment terminology.
  • Proficiency in Basic Computer Operation (Email, Microsoft Excel, etc.)
  • Basic knowledge of preventive maintenance processes.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in record-keeping.
  • Good communication skills for coordinating with maintenance teams and vendors.
  • Forklift operation may be required (Basalite Forklift Certification must be obtained as on the job training).
  • Requires basic reading and writing skills
  • Requires basic mathematics and counting skills
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing, bilingual English and Spanish is preferred
  • Predictable and Regular attendance is required.

Salary Range $22-$26/hr. DOE and Qualifications
