POSITION SUMMARY: Under the supervision of the Sales Manager, the CMU Sales Rep’s primary responsibility is to generate and manage material sales while providing the utmost service to the concrete masonry industry including masonry contractors, architects, engineers, landscaping architects, interior designers, and others in the design and development community and Masonry Dealers in their market. The role includes both new sales opportunities and the management of current sales from opportunity stage through job closeout and is responsible for supporting and demonstrating the Core Values of Integrity, Safety, Respect, Customer Focus, Quality, Innovation and Financial Success. Performs other related duties as assigned.


SUPERVISION RECEIVED: The Sales Rep will effectively plan and manage their territory and clearly communicate the manufacturing capabilities based out of the Redmond manufacturing facility. Communication and direction will come from the Sales Manager.

  • Job quote preparation
    • Sales Rep takes incoming materials take-off from contractor and/or Dealer and uses our Excel templates, current price lists, up to date market knowledge including competitive pricing awareness, and our production capabilities for those items being requested.
  • Order Entry
    • Discuss, position, and get the sales order for Basalite including accurate pricing on sales order, accurate portrayal of our manufacturing capabilities of what’s being requested (by working closely with production planning), and materials due date management and agreement with customer.
  • Order Management
    • From order entry to reconciliation, including deliveries and dispatch support, add and change order facilitation, jobsite issues that arise and proper notification of job close out and completion (along with left over material review, if applicable).
    • Travel/Sit Downs/Office and Jobsite visits
    • Including Production Plant and Basalite office visits (when necessary), minor jobsite deliveries and/ or sample deliveries, jobsite problem review and resolution.
    • Weekly Contractor and Dealer office visits including review of job boards, upcoming bids, lead sharing, competitive activities, issues/problems/solutions including review of options.
    • Miscellaneous Sales Duties
  • Visit Architectural firms, Engineering firms, GC’s. Attend sales meetings, production meetings, complete office paperwork, SAP/computer usage, attend Customer outings, and ongoing weekly planning activities and reporting.
  • Develop project information for sales leads, update company database (CRM), use company job tracking sheets.
  • Regular attendance is required.


QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.


  • Construction Management or Concrete Technical degree preferred.  Concrete Masonry and especially Structural CMU (Concrete Masonry Unit) experience strongly preferred.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with employees, subordinates, top management, customers, outside agencies, public groups, etc.
  • Basic math skills required
  • A Sales Rep needs to be an extension of the Mason Contractors staff with focus first and foremost on Service. The Sales Rep contributes significantly to the Customer’s success and becomes a valuable partner and trusted colleague, therefore solid communication and reasoning skill are necessary. The Sales Reps actions directly mirror Basalite’s core values.
  • Fluid use of laptop, cell phone, PDA’s and solid knowledge and use of basic computer software programs required i.e. Microsoft Office Suite, Outlook.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and good driving record
  • Regular attendance is required.

  • Standing, walking, sitting, talking/listening, reaching with hands and arms.
  • Occasionally required to bend at the waist; Lift and/or move up-to 60 pounds.
  • Up to 50% travel time required within sales territory and occasional overnight stays at sales meetings.
