Maintenance Mechanic (Swing)

POSITION SUMMARY: Under the supervision of the Production Manager, this position supports various production machines, troubleshoots, maintains, repairs, performs preventative maintenance tasks, installs equipment upgrades, and fabricates machinery and equipment. This position will also be required to operate heavy machinery and use shop tools, verifies machines are running properly and safely and is responsible for supporting and demonstrating the Core values of Integrity, Safety, Respect, Customer Focus, Quality, Innovation and Financial Success. Performs other related duties as assigned.

 

SUPERVISION RECEIVED:  Reports directly to the Production Manager. Works in co-ordinance with the Maintenance Manager, and Plant Engineer.

  • Maintains equipment repair in a timely manner
  • Performs electrical, electronic, mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic maintenance and repairs of machinery and equipment.
  • Records and informs Production Manager, Engineering Manager, and Maintenance Supervisor of any-and-all maintenance issues.
  • Recommends measures to improve production, equipment, and performance.
  • Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of shop, department, or work crew.
  • Follows direction when machinery should be shut down and repaired.
  • Inspects all plant machinery for proper operation.
  • Assists in gathering and tracking maintenance records on all equipment daily.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of plant equipment, location, and name.
  • Ability to start or jog equipment to perform maintenance tasks.
  • Ability to troubleshoot electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems
  • Ability to help maintain a preventative maintenance program.
  • Able to operate machinery and plant equipment
  • Ability to setup extruder die heads
  • Demonstrate knowledge of all types of dies and setup procedures.
  • Assists workers engaged in dismantling, assembling and installing production tooling.
  • Able to operate all splitting/cutting/grinding equipment.
  • Attends safety meetings and abides by all safety rules set forth by company and governmental regulatory agencies; ensures that hazardous conditions are reported and corrected.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the safety requirements for performing maintenance on equipment and tools.
  • All other duties and responsibilities assigned from time-to-time by the company or its designated representatives.
  • Regular attendance is required.

 

QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

 

  • High school education or equivalent of three years’ industrial maintenance experience required.
  • On-the-job training experience is required to be able to perform duties.
  • Manufacturing production machinery experience preferred.
  • Ability to operate extruders and any other equipment required to perform duties.
  • Regular attendance is required.
  • Team player and able to communicate effectively with peers, customers, and superiors.
  • Bilingual in Spanish, a plus.
  • Requires basic reading, writing and mathematical skills.

  • Frequently required to use hands to finger, handle or feel; Reach with hands and arms; Talk and listen; Stand, walk, and sit.

SALARY:  HOURLY - $28 - $33/hr depending on experience
