POSITION SUMMARY: Under the supervision of the Regional Manufacturing Manager, this position leads and manages the flow of materials from post-production through secondary operations.  Secondary operations will include but is not limited to, Grinding, Shot Blasting, Cutting, Tumbling, and Wet Cast production.  The Secondary Ops Superintendent is responsible for ensuring that production teams operate equipment safely and per all company JSA’s and that proper operation practices are followed to optimize system utilization, production output, and final product quality.  The Secondary Ops Superintendent must collaborate with the plant maintenance and quality assurance teams to proactively address and respond to any issues that impact machine uptime. This position requires a high level of teamwork, problem solving skills, and production workflow management knowledge; and is responsible for demonstrating and promoting the Core Values of Integrity, Safety, Respect, Customer Focus, Quality, Innovation and Financial Success.  Performs other related duties as assigned.

Secondary Operations

  • Collaborate with production planning to develop and manage production schedules
  • Direct daily meetings with operation leads to confirm assignments, manage production schedules and daily/weekly priorities
  • Support development of operation capacity for production planning and utilization reporting / management
  • Assigning daily tasks / responsibilities as required which include:
  • Efficient and safe equipment operation to include operation of: splitter / grinder / saw / shot blast / tumbler/ concrete finishing operations
  • Checks finished product for proper quality (splits, cuts and grindings)
  • Make critical equipment adjustments to ensure finished product quality
  • Complete required production paperwork for daily activities

 

Managing Personnel

  • Directly manage first line leads/supervisors as assigned to secondary operations
  • Coaching, training, instructing and offering guidance to all involved in the secondary operations processes and yard materials management
  • Collaborate with Production Planning/Scheduling on secondary operations capacity, and hold team accountable to meeting production schedule
  • Responsible for managing time and attendance via daily audit reports for timekeeping compliance.
  • Perform annual reviews for direct reports, engage in employee development and discipline as applicable
  • Lead recruiting, hiring and training staff for area of responsibility
  • Act as backup for subordinate positions as needed
  • Collaborate on monthly report, providing backup for Secondary Operations on performance compared budget
  • Attend safety meetings and abide by all safety rules set forth by company and governmental regulatory agencies; ensure that hazardous conditions are reported and corrected
  • Predictable and Regular attendance is required.

 

QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • High School education or equivalent required.
  • Five+ years in a Supervisory role. Production Management, Logistics Management, direct experience in the concrete block and/or sack industry a plus.
  • Motivated, resourceful, and inspired to be an agent for change.
  • Proven ability to coach, guide and lead subordinates.
  • SAP experience preferred.
  • Strong aptitude for math, organizing personal tasks and repetitive duties in a dynamic environment.
  • Must have strong verbal and written communication skills, teamwork, decision-making and interpersonal skills.
  • Bilingual in Spanish preferred but not required.
  • Demonstrate commitment to consistently delivering the highest quality customer service.
  • On-the-job training experience is required to be able to perform duties.
  • Requires strong computer / MS Office (excel) knowledge and software application skills.
  • Valid Driver’s License Required.
  • Predictable and Regular attendance is required.

SALARY EXPECTATIONS

  • $85 – 95k
