POSITION SUMMARY: Under the supervision of the Block Plant Superintendent, this position supervises the day-to-day operations of the shift of the Block Plant.  This includes supervising employees, coordinating production scheduling and quality efforts, assisting in maintenance efforts and ensuring safety measures are practiced and maintained; and is responsible for supporting and demonstrating the Core Values of Integrity, Safety, Respect, Customer Focus, Quality, Innovation and Financial Success. Performs other related duties as assigned.

 

SUPERVISION: General

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

 

  • Works with the Block Superintendent to schedule Block Plant employees.
    • Coordinates with the production scheduler, mold shop, and Block Superintendent to optimize the production schedule by using a working knowledge of product characteristics such as color, curing, splitting and other key aspects.
    • Responsible for managing daily audit reports (time and attendance).
  • Works directly with the mold shop to ensure proper functioning and configuration of molds.
  • Pursues and applies a comprehensive knowledge of Quality Assurance and Quality Control.
    • Ensures key standards such as height and compression are met.
    • Ensures product colors and blends are accurate and repeatable.
    • Develops and maintains processes and procedures that organize and update mix designs, machine settings, and numerous other equipment settings.
  • Gains a comprehensive working knowledge of curing.
    • Ensure different products receive the proper cure cycle.
    • Assists in the maintenance and proper working condition of all components from the boilers to the roll up doors.
    • Responsible for daily monitoring and evaluation of the curing system to determine effectiveness and to identify problems or to develop trends.
  • Assists in determining when maintenance will be performed.
    • Coordinates routine maintenance and large projects with the overall site maintenance and scheduling.
    • Assists with rebuilds by planning, scheduling, and coordinating with the maintenance department.
    • Works closely with the maintenance department to write, assign, and follow up on all maintenance related projects and work orders.
  • Develops a comprehensive parts knowledge of components in the plant.
  • Assists in the development efforts of all operators, cubers, and forklift drivers.
  • Assists in the efforts to identify, recommend, and implement improvements in areas such as safety, moral, equipment, processes, and quality.
  • Leads weekly huddles.
    • With the assistance of the site Safety Coordinator and Block Plant Superintendent, ensures people have received proper training on various processes and pieces of equipment.
    • Attends safety meetings and abides by all safety rules set forth by company and governmental regulatory agencies; ensures that hazardous conditions are reported and corrected.
  • Ensures various daily reporting activities are met.
  • Predictable and Regular attendance is required. Must be able to work weekends and overtime as needed.  

 

QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

 

  • High School diploma or equivalent experience preferred.
  • 1-3 years’ experience in manufacturing and supervision preferred.
  • On-the-job training experience is required to be able to perform certain duties.
  • Must have strong communication, teamwork, decision-making and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, written and spoken. Spanish a plus.
  • Ability to operate a computer and any other equipment required to perform the duties assigned.  
  • Predictable and Regular attendance is required. Must be able to work weekends and overtime as needed.

SALARY RANGE: $35-$40/HR. DOE
