Under the supervision of the Maintenance Superintendent, the Maintenance Mechanic III (C) position supports the Dixon Plant Operations and Departments in areas where it maintains and repairs machinery and equipment.  Is responsible for supporting and demonstrating the Core Values of Integrity, Safety, Respect, Customer Focus, Quality, Innovation and Financial Success. Performs other related duties as assigned.




ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.


  • Uses Oxygen/acetylene torch.
  • Operates band saws, drills, drill presses, grinders and other shop tools.
  • Operates arc weld in various positions and types of joints.
  • Operates air arch torch.
  • Repairs and replaces bearings and related parts.
  • Completes minor wiring repairs.
  • Replace equipment parts with proper instructions.
  • Understands plant equipment, spare parts, location, and names.
  • Performs maintenance on equipment and tools safely.
  • Performs maintenance tasks by starting or jogging equipment.
  • Troubleshoots complex wiring schematics and simple pneumatic and hydraulic schematics.
  • Rebuilds cylinders and hydraulic valves.
  • Fabricates and layouts from drawings.
  • Operates multi-function electrical test meter.
  • Wires and phases for direction single and three phase motors, starters and relays.
  • Works with operators and supervisors to solve problem with machinery.
  • Understands the operation of all block and/or paver plant equipment, splitting/cutting/grinding equipment, all block crushing equipment, and computer-operated equipment.
  • Orders minor parts.
  • Attends safety meetings and abides by all safety rules set forth by company and governmental regulatory agencies; ensures that hazardous conditions are reported and corrected.
  • Regular attendance is required.



QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.


  • High school education or equivalent plus college level math, physics and trigonometry.
  • Three years welding and machinery maintenance experience required.
  • Working knowledge of industrial electricity required.
  • Requires good reading, writing and mathematical skills.
  • Requires ability to assists with calculations, projections and applications for fabrication and layout.
  • Ability to operate forklift, front-end loader, drill press, welders, angle grinders, digital volt meters and any other equipment required to perform duties.
  • Regular attendance is required.

  • Lifting up-to 60 pounds.

  • Work near moving mechanical parts; work in high, precarious places, toxic or caustic chemical, heat or cold (non-weather) conditions, risk of electrical shock, vibration.

  • Plant environment with loud noise, moving machinery, dusty, dirty.
  • Wear mandatory and/or other appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE)
