Position Summary: Under the supervision of the Plant Manager, this role is needed to drive continuous improvement projects in our plants. The Project Technician assists and leads efforts to identify, propose and execute on projects, processes and best practices. This position develops, evaluates, and improves methods utilizing knowledge of process manufacturing, material handling methods, process instrumentation, automation, modern-day quality management principles and safety and environmental compliance. In addition, the Project Technician supports the Maintenance Department by assisting in similar maintenance related improvements. Is responsible for supporting and demonstrating the Core Values of Integrity, Safety, Respect, Customer Focus, Quality, Innovation and Financial Success. Performs other related duties as assigned.

- Projects
- Coordinates projects from planning stages to commissioning and training by prioritizing tasks, creating milestones, and proactively engaging with all stakeholders
- Applies lean manufacturing principles to improve yield, efficiencies, and quality
- Reviews, evaluates and implements new technologies that support best practices in manufacturing
- Uses logical thought processes to analyze information and draw conclusions
- Leads installation and commissioning efforts
- Establishes key relationships with vendors, suppliers, integrators and outside services
- Investigates and proposes capital projects
- Monitors production performances for new processes
- Interprets and explains plans and contract terms to administrative staff and workers
- Takes actions to deal with the results of delays and plan changes
- Maintenance Support
- Assists with critical maintenance processes such as PM’s and other planned maintenance efforts by coordinating between Production Superintendents and the Maintenance Superintendent
- Provides support to key maintenance efforts such as inventory improvements and working alongside maintenance crews as needed
- Suggest and/or implement continuous improvement actions
- Analyze data to identify potential problems
- Monitor process capability
- Participate in best practices and other processes that increase manufacturing efficiencies

- Attends safety meetings and abides by all safety rules set forth by company and governmental regulatory agencies; ensures that hazardous conditions are reported and corrected.

- High school education or equivalent of three years’ industrial maintenance experience required.
- On-the-job training experience is required to be able to perform duties.
- Strong aptitude for personal time management in a dynamic environment
- Must have strong verbal and written communication skills, teamwork, decision-making and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrate commitment to consistently deliver the highest quality customer service
- Requires strong computer / MS Office (excel) knowledge and software application skills
- Valid Driver’s License Required.

- Office environment with moderate noise
- Manufacturing environment with hazards typically associated with concrete, clay, or plastics processing (must comply with safe work methods outlined in Basalite’s IIPP)

SALARY RANGE: $25-$32/HR. DOE
