POSITION SUMMARY: Under the supervision of the SCG & Yard Superintendent, this position will lead Tumbling and Shot Blast operations.  This position requires work in a collaborative team environment, working with direct supervisor and production planning, to achieve daily production priorities, machine utilization, and promote continuous improvements for assigned operations.  The Lead will insure proper machine functionality, production efficiency and verify product quality and is responsible for supporting, demonstrating and promoting Basalite’s Core Values of Integrity, Safety, Respect, Customer Focus, Quality, Innovation and Financial Success.

 

SUPERVISION RECEIVED: General 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. 

  • Operates Tumbler and cuber to generate tumbled product consistent with scheduled demands and priorities
  • Operate Shot Blaster to generate shot blast product consistent with scheduled demands and priorities
  • Lead / direct assigned team to maintain optimal production efficiencies
  • Often rotate tasks / functions to support production needs, inclusive of supporting other leads/operations as needed or assigned. 
  • Clearly communicate to assigned team daily / weekly objectives and priorities
  • Accurately and timely complete daily production reporting for all operations assigned
  • Insure team is properly completing PM’s on equipment
  • Properly Check equipment for proper operation and timely report wear / performance issues to supervisor & maintenance
  • Operate forklift as required
  • Check blocks for proper quality, timely reporting quality issues to supervisor and quality assurance
  • Maintain Clean and organized work area
  • Attends safety meetings and abides by all safety rules set forth by company and governmental regulatory agencies; ensures that hazardous conditions are reported and corrected
  • All other duties and responsibilities assigned from time to time by the company or its designated representatives.
  • Regular attendance is required. 

QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.                                                                         

  • Requires basic math, reading and writing skills.
  • On-the-job training experience is required to be able to perform duties.
  • Production line experience preferred.
  • Ability to operate tumbler, shot blast system, cuber, forklift and any other equipment required to perform duties.
  • Regular attendance is required.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced work environment
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing
  • Ability to act and address conflict in a professional manner
  • Ability to act professionally and remain calm in high stress situations

  • Frequently required to use hands to finger, handle or feel; Reach with hands and arms; Talk and listen; Stand, walk, and sit.
  • Occasionally climbing or balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling may be required.
  • Occasionally required to bend at the waist.
  • Lifting up-to 100 pounds.
  • Regular attendance is required.  

WORK ENVIRONMENT The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.   

  • Plant environment with moderate to loud noise, moving and vibrating machinery, dusty, dirty, fumes and/or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, hot and cold (non-weather) conditions.
  • Working areas may include elevated working platforms.

  • Extreme temperatures
  • Wear mandatory and/or other appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE)

 

Range of Pay: $16.98 to $20.00 per hour
