POSITION SUMMARY: Under the supervision of the Transportation Supervisor, this position supports the Block, Paver, and Sack Plants in all areas of raw materials; and is responsible for supporting and demonstrating the Core Values of Integrity, Safety, Respect, Customer Focus, Quality, Innovation and Financial Success. Performs other related duties as assigned.

 

SUPERVISION RECEIVED: General

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

 

  • Oversees Raw Material Delivery department and crew, spot-checking daily work sheets of drivers and assisting with their evaluations.
  • Coordinates drivers and equipment efforts to accommodate production facility needs. 
  • Administers test drive to new drivers and instructs them on proper method of filling out logbooks, work sheets and reports.
  • Acts as liaison between drivers and management.
  • Drives trucks in a safe manner to specified locations to pick up aggregate and deliver it to the Dry Mix Plant and Dry Cast Plants.
  • Loads material from the waste pile and delivers to appropriate disposal destinations.
  • Fill out log books, work sheets, reports and electronic reporting
  • Loads and unloads trucks as needed.
  • Operates the Front-End Loader to push up and maintain stock piles and to load waste.
  • Performs and documents daily inspections on truck and trailer as required by DOT.
  • Maintains and fuels trucks
  • Performs and documents daily inspections on any other equipment operated including                        front-end loaders and forklifts.
  • After inspecting vehicles and equipment; reports any maintenance or safety issues immediately to your supervisor. Monitors effectiveness of repairs.
  • Forklift operation is required
  • Regularly meets with supervisor
  • Maintains work area clean and clutter free per company standards
  • All other duties and responsibilities assigned from time to time by the company or its designated representatives
  • Attends safety meetings and abides by all safety rules set forth by company and governmental regulatory agencies; ensures that hazardous conditions are reported and corrected. Give weekly safety huddles.
  • Regular attendance is required.

 

QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

        

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Two-year experience driving truck and trailer including belly dump, dump truck, water truck both full and empty.
  • On-the-job training experience required to be able to perform duties.
  • Forklift operational experience is beneficial.
  • Front End Loader experience is beneficial.
  • Requires basic reading and writing skills.
  • Ability to communicate and interact both verbally and written.
  • Basic mathematics and counting is required.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and a professional manner in dealing with employees and the public.
  • Ability to act professionally and remain calm in high stress situations. 
  • Operation of mobile electronic equipment may be required. 
  • Must have a valid Class A driver’s license and a good driving record. Class A with Triples and Tanker endorsements required.
  • Regular attendance is required.
